Nick Bosa was born Nicholas John Bosa on October 23, 1997 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His parents are John and Cheryl Bosa, a former NFL player for the Miami Dolphins and a school teacher, respectively. He has two older brothers (Joey and Eric) and a younger sister (Nicki). Both Joey and Nicki are athletes themselves; Joey is currently playing football at Ohio State University while Nicki plays volleyball there.

In high school, Nick Bosa played defensive end and tight end for St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He won three state titles with them while being named an All-American by USA Today twice (2014–2015). While attending Ohio State University he played college football as well being selected as an All-American twice (2016–2017). He was also named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year once during his time there before declaring early for the 2019 NFL Draft where he would go on to be selected second overall by the San Francisco 49ers.
