WILLSON CONTRERAS
Willson Eduardo Contreras is a Venezuelan professional baseball catcher for the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball. He played for the Cubs' minor league affiliates from 2010 to 2016.
Willson Eduardo Contreras was born in Puerto Cabello, Venezuela. He signed with the Chicago Cubs as an international free agent in 2009. He was named a Midwest League All-Star in 2013, while playing for the Class A Kane County Cougars; he was also named to play in the All-Star Futures Game that season. In 2014, he played for both the Daytona Cubs of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League and Tennessee Smokies of the Class AA Southern League.
During that time, he was named a mid-season All-Star three times and a post-season All-Star twice. He also won the Southern League Most Valuable Player Award in 2015 and was named the Arizona Fall League MVP in 2016 was voted as a starter in the MLB All-Star Games in 2018 and 2019.
