JAVIER BÁEZ
Ednel Javier Báez, nicknamed "El Mago", is a Puerto Rican professional baseball shortstop for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball. He previously played in MLB for the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets. Born in Puerto Rico, Báez attended high school in Jacksonville, Florida.
Báez has played in Major League Baseball for the Chicago Cubs since 2014, making his MLB debut with them in 2014. He made his first All-Star appearance in 2018, when he won his first National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player Award and his first Rawlings Gold Glove Award. Báez also won the 2016 National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player Award, the 2018 National League Silver Slugger Award, and has been named to three consecutive National League All-Star rosters from 2018 to 2020.
